Between history and modernity, discover two family wine estates : Château Taillefer in Pomerol and Château Tauzinat l'Hermitage, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.

Presentation

It was in 1923 when Antoine Moueix, a wine merchant from Corrèze, acquired Château Taillefer. This family estate, with a rich history of more than 3 centuries, is now in the hands of the 5th generation. With energy and enthusiasm, Claire Moueix and her husband, Cyril Basteau, merge history and modernity to shape this grand cru.

Château Taillefer is situated on the southern side of the plateau of Pomerol. In this location, the soil is particularly rich in iron oxides. This Pomerol specificity is also at the origin of the name of the Château: « the elders recount that the plow « carves the iron » (« taille le fer » in french) so much it lifts iron oxides in this vineyard. »

Château Tauzinat l'Hermitage is situated on the height of the limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion, in a beautiful countryside. For that matter, the vineyards' plot are surrounding by tauzins oaks, which are at the origin of the Château's name.

The new generation is committed to revealing the terroir of these Châteaux and crafting with simplicity and meticulousness : a wine for laying down that is dense, complex, elegant in Pomerol and a charmer wine with a beautiful aromatic complexity in Saint-Emilion.

Claire Moueix
