First of all, some practical information

 

Opening hours of the event: 11:30 am - midnight* 
* except children's areas ("L'Ecole des Enfants" and "Le Jardin des Petits Explorateurs") which will close at 8:00 pm. The service on the "Saint-Emilion Fête le Vin" stands stops at 11:30 pm.

 

Parking lot :
The medieval city of Saint-Emilion will be pedestrianized on Saturday between 2:00 pm and midnight.

For your convenience, supervised car parks are available in the various municipalities of the Jurisdiction. Shuttles will then drop you off at the entrances to the village of Saint-Emilion (Place Bouqueyre or Parking "Saint-Emilion Nord" depending on the circuit).

Saint-Emilion fête le Vin

Six tasting areas will be deployed throughout the city to celebrate Saint-Emilion wine: Moats at the Palais Cardinal, Parc Guadet, Place Bouqueyre, Place du Chapitre et des Jacobins, Logis de Malet and the Cloister of the collegiate church.

The Great Scene



In the majestic setting of the "Douves du Palais Cardinal", amidst the old stones and in the heart of Saint-Emilion's historical heritage, 6 free concerts will dazzled the public during 3 evenings of madness, programmed by the Saint-Emilion Jazz Festival. A "Saint-Emilion Fête le Vin" stand will also be available in the Moats.

The Producers' Market


Parc Guadet will host a catering area for the public. About twenty restaurateurs will be present to delight the taste buds of children and adults in a charming setting! Bandas will provide musical entertainment and a "Saint-Emilion Fête le Vin" stand will be present on the site.

Discovery of the monolithic church

 

Dive into the heart of the medieval city of Saint-Emilion by visiting its monolithic church, the largest in Europe.

Dug into a single block of limestone, it will allow you to go back in time.

During the day, enjoy a full visit of the underground monuments (45 min) and at the end of the day, enjoy a privileged experience with only the underground church (30 min).

Conferences


A series of conferences related to the cultural landscapes of Saint-Emilion and biodiversity will be organized in partnership with associations of the Jurisdiction and the Conseil des Vins de Saint-Emilion.

CONFERENCE PROGRAMME :

Saturday at 11:30 am: "UNESCO's World Heritage Sites", by M. Jean Audouze (astrophysicist, Director of Research Emeritus at the CNRS, President of Honour of the French National Commission for UNESCO, President of "Terre de Montaigne"), in partnership with the Société d'Histoire et d'Archéologie de Saint-Emilion;

Saturday at 5:00 pm : "Between evolution, preservation and transmission: transversal regards" : round table / debate with representatives of other registered vineyards

Wine Estates Open Doors


The châteaux of the Jurisdiction open their doors throughout the weekend with many activities (food trucks, children's games, visits and tastings, etc.).

Guided tour in the vineyard with tasting 

 

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the inscription of the Jurisdiction of Saint-Émilion on UNESCO’s World Heritage List for its cultural landscapes, take the time to discover this millenary vineyard.

From Saint-Émilion, take a bus through the rolling countryside to discover the Saint-Émilion appellation, its specific features and a wine-growing estate. Once there, the winegrower will be happy to share his know-how with you and let you taste his wines.

 

French tours schedule: 11:30am, 2:30pm and 4:30 pm.

English tours schedule: 11:00am, 2:00pm and 4:00pm.

The Vinetier heat-affixed Mark


At the time of Jean Sans Terre (12th century), the Jurade marked the barrels of Saint-Emilion wines with hot iron with its seal after tasting. Every evening, the Jurade will revive the tradition. In the city, troupes of actors in historical costumes will perform scenes to call visitors to follow the ascent of the barrels pulled by a carriage along the alleys of the village. The procession of jurats will be led by musicians, fire-eaters and actors. At the end of the procession, the fire mark will be affixed by a blacksmith.

The relaxation area and exhibitions


The yard of Logis de Malet will be transformed into a relaxation area enlivened by acoustic jazz concerts. Inside, Jean-François André, sculptor, Jone Be fraiche and Ben Trakt, graffiti artists, Christian Naura and Eric Besson, artists-painters will exhibit their works and offer live and participatory performances during the weekend. A Saint-Emilion Fête le Vin stand will be present in this area.

The exhibition "Voguent les Vins"

 

Since the birth of a great port in antiquity, the destinies of wine and navigation have always been closely linked to Bordeaux. This history is rich in good times and more difficult periods. It is some of these great moments and some of the little anecdotes that accompanied them that are told in the exhibition De fleuve et de Vignobles.

The flavours market


Discover this market to buy local products (honey, foie gras, truffles, etc.) and admire the creations of craftsmen (jewellery, macramé...).

La place médiévale


Many activities will be planned on the square: demonstrations by coopers and blacksmiths, the Rouleurs de Barriques show, classical and medieval concerts, battles between parents and children around the taste workshops... A Saint-Emilion Fête le Vin stand will also be available on this square.

The artists' corner

 

In the cloister of the collegiate church, the Fresco of the Apocalypse, a great work of 38.5m long created by the artist from Lot-et-Garonne François Peltier, will be highlighted by a sound and light show every evening. The other spans will accommodate many artists: paintings, drawings, sculptures, engravings, etc. A Saint-Emilion Fête le Vin space will be present in the cloister.

Concerts in churches


A concert will be organized in each church of the Jurisdiction! Each place will vibrate to the sound of choirs, Basque choirs or gospel groups.

Children's school


This space will host various activities for children: biodiversity workshops (medicinal plant garden, small gestures for the planet, weaving of the vine...) and tales for children.

The garden of the little explorers


This space will host workshops for children such as the construction of miniature solar-powered wind turbines, archaeological excavations and a game around World Heritage sites.

Tasting concert at Château Monlot


As part of the 20th anniversary of the inscription of the Jurisdiction of Saint-Emilion on the World Heritage List, Château Monlot organize a tasting concert in its cellar.

From 6:00 pm, pianist Jean-Pierre Como will perform a duet repertoire with the formidable singer Walter Ricci, semi-finalist of the prestigious international jazz competition Thelonious Monk.

Practical information: shuttles will be available from 5:00 pm from the Saint-Laurent-des-Combes train station car park to Château Monlot.

The Jurisdiction from Above


The walls and gates of the gardens of the Town Hall of Saint-Emilion will host an exhibition of photos of the winners of the competition organized as part of the Montgolfiades de Saint-Emilion for the 20th anniversary. The awards ceremony will take place during the weekend (details to come). The theme of the competition was the remarkable sites of the Jurisdiction as seen from the sky.

Philosophy and heritage walks


Groups can walk along various routes. During the day, "Philosophy" walks will be organized, as well as "Heritage" walks that will allow you to see the Jurisdiction off the beaten track.

Heritage Walks
In the company of historian and lecturer-guide David Souny, discover the Jurisdiction and its built, natural or cultural heritage. The Saint-Emilion region is full of sites that testify to the diversity of this cultural landscape, shaped by man over the centuries.

11:00 am: Stroll around the Menhir de Pierrefitte (Saint-Sulpice-De-Faleyrens)
A monumental witness of prehistory in the Saint-Émilion Area, the Pierrefitte menhir also materializes the location of the medieval port of Saint-Émilion. The visit will start at the foot of the menhir and then reach the banks of the Dordogne.
Duration: about 1 hour

 

2:00 pm : Crossed views on Saint-Emilion.
Get off the beaten track... to discover unknown districts and monuments of Saint-Émilion. From Porte Brunet, the tour will lead you to Place Bouqueyre to join the Madeleine plateau to offer two exceptional and opposite views of the city and its surroundings.
Duration: about 1 hour

 

Visit of the excavations of the Madeleine site


The Hadès Archaeological Investigation Office opens the Madeleine site to all the curious. Accompanied by Natacha SAUVAITRE, archaeologist, interested people will discover the secrets of this project.

The "Tetrodon" project


The "tétrodon" project is developed by Jacques Berce and Henri Ciriani of the AAU (Bordeaux). They offer a modular housing based on a 30-foot container whose volume is increased using polyester shells. The copy saved by the Biotope Festival association in order to preserve one of these copies constituting a Gironde heritage is installed in the palus of Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens on private land in order to propose a Biodiversity Observatory.

Artists' residence at Château Haut Sarpe

The "Creation Exhibition".
Bringing together all the Arts, the artists of the "Jur'Art-Monie" collective will gather around the subject: Your vision of the Cultural Landscape of the Jurisdiction of Saint-Emilion.

Three days to think, create and give birth to an original work "told" during a vernissage on Sunday, June 30th.

The objective, a very personal and punctual vision of our time and space, and above all A SHARING. The artists will be brought together in a collective "workshop", giving them a creative and exhibition space.
