Four generations of the Bouldy family and more than a century of dedication to our vines and our wine.
Château Bellegrave is an 8.7 hectare property and has been in the Bouldy family from father to son for several generations. The typical Pomerol soil of gravel, clay and sand ensures that our wines have both power and finesse. Planting is 75% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot.
The terroir of Pomerol was born at the beginning of the Quaternary. It is the alluvium of the "Isle" river which descended from the Massif Central and which, in a whirlwind when it met the Dordogne in Libourne, deposited its many precious elements on which our vines feed, giving our wines incomparable aromas and taste thanks to this mixture of sand, clay and pebbles. The ochre colour shows the important presence of iron oxide.
We have chosen the organic method of cultivation in order to live and work in a healthy environment and ultimately obtain natural wines. Organic viticulture is the foundation of how nature works, it means bringing the vine into harmony with the microorganisms in the soil. A living, invisible world, populated by bacteria, fungi, worms, etc... which allows the qualitative nutrition of the plants and therefore the excellence of the fruit.
