In the 12th century, the Château de la Commanderie was owned by the Knights of St John of Jerusalem and housed the pilgrims who went to Santiago de Compostela. Their mission was to protect the pilgrims from thieves.
In 2019, the Count and Countess of Colbert purchased the property. The property covers 39 hectares, of which 29hectares are planted with vines. The vineyard surrounds the property.
The vineyard is composed of two types of soil: the upper part is on a sandy gravel soil on variegated clay, and the middle and lower part on a sandy gravel soil on deep clayey sand.
The 29Ha are composed of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The average age of the vineyard is 36 years.
The vineyards are being run on an organic and biodynamic basis.
