Sainte-Terre : hometown of the lamprey!


This large botanical garden, freely accessible, houses several hundreds of waterbank plants, planted alongside a pebbled path which reminds the curve of the Dordogne river.

Once in Sainte-Terre, you'll also have the opportunity to discover its emblematic creaturel: the lamprey. Aquatic animal of almost 450 million years old: it won't leave you indifferent!


Benefit of your disovery of the Garden of the Lamprey to learn more about the Dordogne river, its fauna, its flora and naturally its emblem: the lamprey.

In our cottage, will be a great opportunity to (re)discover the lamprey, aquatic animal old of 450 million years. The fascinating documentary that will be presented to you will not leave you indifferent!

In summer, a guided tour IN FRENCH is offered from Wednesday to Sunday at 2:30 pm.

On Wednesdays and Fridays, you can enjoy various games on site:

- Le Jeu de la Lamproie



Open from June 1st to September 30th 2023 : 
- Wednesday to Saturday: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM / 2:00 PM - 5:30 PM (except on July 14th: 2:00 PM - 5:30 PM)
- Sunday and bank holidays: 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
- Closed Monday and Tuesday


The garden is however open by the town hall and accessible every day from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm.
The Tourist Information Office located at the Jardin de la Lamproie is closed from October to May.
