Sainte-Terre : hometown of the lamprey!

This large botanical garden, freely accessible, houses several hundreds of waterbank plants, planted alongside a pebbled path which reminds the curve of the Dordogne river.

Once in Sainte-Terre, you'll also have the opportunity to discover its emblematic creaturel: the lamprey. Aquatic animal of almost 450 million years old: it won't leave you indifferent!
No lamprey is currently visible in the Lamprey Garden.

Benefit of your disovery of the Garden of the Lamprey to learn more about the Dordogne river, its fauna, its flora and naturally its emblem: the lamprey.

During a free guided tour of 30 minutes, your guide will pull you metaphorically to the edge of the Dordogne river - thanks to the pebbled path. Will share with you the secrets of the local flora found in the heart of the garden.

The end of the visit, in our cottage, will be a great opportunity to (re)discover the lamprey, aquatic animal old of 450 million years. The fascinating documentary that will be presented to you will not leave you indifferent!

No lamprey is visible for the moment at the Garden of the Lamprey.

  • A picnic area - that can be privatized on request - awaits you for convivial moments.
  • Workshops for children and a documentary on lamprey.
  • A visit to combine with the discovery of Le Cabestan, the farm of the lamprey fisherman.
