In the Saint-Emilion archives, you can read that the Capdemourlin family, owners of Château Balestard La Tonnelle, have been producing wine on this soil since 1647.
Today, the 12th and 13th generations of this family are at the head of Vignobles Capdemourlin, a group of 3 estates : Château Balestard La Tonnelle (Grand Cru Classé), Château Cap de Mourlin (Grand Cru Classé) and Château Roudier (Montagne Saint-Emilion).
Since 2021, Château Balestard La Tonnelle has been open to visitors and continues to grow as one of the appellation's leading names, thanks to its new bioclimatic cellar and its panoramic terrace perched 80 metres above the village of Saint-Emilion.
Ideally located in the north-east of Saint-Emilion, just 10 minutes' walk from the medieval town, the property is situated on the clay-limestone plateau of the appellation and benefits from an exceptional terroir. Château Balestard La Tonnelle is committed to respecting the environment and traditions, and has adopted organic farming methods.
In order to welcome you in the best conditions and to offer you a privileged moment, visits are by appointment only (in French, English and Spanish). Each visit ends with a tasting of three wines in the reception room. This new space has been designed and fitted out to allow you to discover the wines in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
A shop allows you to make your purchases, place orders or ship your wines.
