Drawing on the extensive archive of documents compiled over the course of some 15 years of scientific research into Saint-Émilion, the historian and tour guide David SOUNY will present, during this lecture, a selection of historical drawings, photographs and maps that will shed light on the town and its surroundings during the 19th century and the early 20th century.
These documents not only possess undeniable artistic value, but also offer a unique insight into the Saint-Émilion of yesteryear and are of great value for the study of historical heritage. They reveal a landscape – both urban and rural – in constant flux, reinventing itself over time.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A session and a book-signing, accompanied by a glass of crémant courtesy of the Cloître des Cordeliers.
