This short walk, with its remarkable views over the Saint-Émilion vineyards and the Barbanne valleys, is ideal for families.

The stages

Step 1

Park in the car park next to the church. When you leave the car park, head towards the church on your left. Proceed to the stop sign.

Step 2

At the stop sign, cross the road. Continue straight on, route d'Arvouet, passing the 1879 mission cross.

Step 3

At the fork in the road, take the left-hand road (towards Chatain). Further on, you will cross the Bois de l'Abbesse, where you will drive along the back of a magnificent mansion.
At the end of the wood, go back up to the left, still on the same road.

Step 4

At the next bend, turn right. At the crossroads (yellow and green signpost), continue along the main road until you enter a place called ‘Chagneau’.

Step 5

At the intersection with Ch. Canon Chaigneau, turn right. The tarmac road leads to a dirt track which you follow for about 1km until you reach the road.

Step 6

At the road, turn right and proceed to the first junction.

Step 7

At the ‘Route du Gué’ sign, turn right (green signpost / direction Ch. Moncets) onto the ‘Chemin de Roussillon’. After a few metres, at the entrance to Ch. Moncets, turn left onto the ‘chemin de Prés de Chevrol’.

Step 8

Continue straight on until you reach the stop sign.

Step 9

Cross the road to reach the church and car park.
