In September, usually on the third Sunday of the month, the Ban des Vendanges (harvest ban) took place in Saint-Émilion, marking the start of the harvest period.
The goal has always been to seek out quality, and in the past, experts sent to the vineyards were tasked with ensuring that the grapes were perfectly ripe. The Jurade could then proclaim the opening of the ban.
Today, this ceremony is a link between the past and the future and an opportunity to celebrate the harvested vintage.
