The VINO VOCE festival returns to Saint-Émilion for the 4th time from the 8th to the 10th September 

 

From singing to the art of immitation, radio to cinema dubbing, to the theatrical voice and medicine for the voice, Vino Voce reveals to the pubic the thousands of facettes of the voice. its mystery, its ,agic; its infinite resources.

Tuesday 5th September 
VINO VOCE EVENING - screening
8:00pm / Cinéma Utopia of Bordeaux 

 

Screening of the film "Conversation secrète" by Francis Ford Coppola, that won the Palme d'or at the 1974 Cannes Film Festival. Followed by a meeting on the subject of the voice.
On behalf of an enigmatic Mister C, Harry Caul, a telephone tapping specialist, captures the conversation between a woman and a man using highly sophisticated equipment. Returning home, he goes through the dialogue of the young couple, Mark and Ann. Caul then realizes they are in danger, then refuses to hand over the bands to his sponsor. Caul tries to learn more about the threat to the young people.
A masterful thriller in which the recording of the voice plays a central dramatic role. The projection is followed by a drink.

LES CHANTEURS D'OISEAUX - SYRINX - A DREAM OF FLIGHT                                                              Concert show around bird song

The bird singers Jean Boucault and Johnny Rasse have been imitating the song of birds since childhood. A gift that has led them in recent years from La Folle day of Nantes to the Victoires de la musique. They recorded a record with the great Jean Francois Zygel who said of them: "Our two friends, by their gift, unite the earth and the sky, the material and the immaterial. "How can one imagine that, from the first trills, the spectator escapes from the concert hall to join the great scene of nature?


The Syrinx show pays tribute to the song of the birds. Is not the bird, a true singing master, at the origin of human music and song? Jean Boucault and Johnny Rasse are accompanied for this show by the great Persian singer Taghi Akhbari, the flautist Pierre Hamon (Les Arts Florissants, Jordi Savall) and Esteban Valdivia, also flutist and improviser.

The new technologies applied to the voice bring us into a world of science fiction. Do you know that today we can transform a voice, correct it and even clone it? That one can blur the boundaries between human voice and artificial voice?


Nicolas Obin presents to the public the latest achievements of his laboratory and their application in particular for the cinema.
Nicolas OBIN is a lecturer at the Pierre and Marie Curie University and researcher in the analysis and synthesis team at IRCAM Center Pompidou. He is a specialist in voice and sound processing.


In particular, he has contributed to the reconstruction of the digital voice of personalities. He is the author of André Dussolier (2011), Marylin Monroe's voice in the film "Marilyn" by Philippe P. Parreno (2012), the voice of Marshal Petain in the documentary "Juger Pétain" (2014) .

Renowned for his powerful and powerful voice, Jean Philippe Lafont has performed more than a hundred roles on the most important international stages, from the Metropolitan Opera of New York to the Opéra de Paris, La Scala from Milan to La Monnaie Of Brussels. Present in the biggest international festivals, he is one of the rare French lyrical singers to have sung at the mythical festival of Bayreuth.
Since the winter of 2016, he is also the vocal coach of the one who was to become our President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron. How to be an opera singer helps to advise a political leader in his speech? Is there a particular scansion of political speech? How do we prepare a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic before his meetings, his televised speeches? Jean Philippe Lafont reveals the backstage of this exciting exercise.
And to conclude this meeting beautifully, the singer Jean Philippe Lafont offers us a surprise recital!

From George Gershwin to Barbra Streisand, from West Side story to My Fair Lady, soprano Véronique Chevallier and pianist Miho Nitta bring us back to the great tunes of the American musical. Also on the program some great successes of the French operetta.

After studying at the Superior Conservatory in Geneva, Véronique Chevallier continued her training in the United States where she interpreted Drusilla in L'Incoronazione di Poppea (Monteverdi), or Musetta in La Bohème. On her return to Europe, she became familiar with the Baroque repertoire in the flourishing arts and also explored contemporary music with Accentus.
Miho Nitta, a piano, composition and chamber music prize-winner in the prestigious Hiroshima Conservatory, has toured extensively as a solo pianist with the Hiroshima Philharmonic Orchestra. Winner of the International Piano Competition "Les Grands Maîtres Français" and the Cziffra Foundation, she now performs in France. Broadway et Cie is a creation for the Vino Voce festival.


The Jeune Académie Vocale Bordelaise performs in particular with the Opéra de Bordeaux. It is directed by singing conductor Marie Chavanel.

"KATHLEEN FERRIER" by Diane Perelsztein

Born in 1912, Kathleen Ferrier discovers her voice relatively late, when she is 31 years old. An exceptional voice of contralto - the most rare tessitura in a woman. His success is dazzling, sustained by the unconditional admiration of artists of the stature of Herbert Von a Karajan or Bruno Walter.

Unfortunately, the young diva quickly develops a tumor, which puts a premature end to her unique career. In 1953, she died at the age of 41 years.
The beautiful documentary by Diane Perelsztejn gives us an artistic portrait of Kathleen Ferrier, but also intimate. He pays tribute to the unforgettable Eurydice, which is said to have brought tears of emotion to the eyes of Herbert von Karajan ...

Masterclass with Irène Kudela on slavic repetoire

This Masterclass for young professional singers is unique in France. A polyglot pianist, Irène Kudela is a renowned singing conductor in the Slavonic repertoire. She is a conductor of great conductors, amongst others, Pierre Boulez, Mstislav Rostropovich, Simon Rattle and Charles Mackerras. Pianist, she accompanied singers like Barbara Hendricks, Camille Maurane. Singing conductor, she is invited by the greatest Operas and Festivals of Lyric Art. She trains young singers and singers at the Atelier Lyrique of the Paris Opera, at the Frankfurt Hochschule, at the National Opera Studio in London.


Irène Kudela will have three singers rehearsed in public in the Slav repertoire. A unique moment that turned the public and the singers upset during the 2016 edition!

Marie-Adeline Henry, a former student of the Conservatory of Bordeaux and the Atelier Lyrique of the Opéra de Paris, is one of the youngest French singers among the most in demand. She has appeared in the roles of Donna Elvira, La Comtesse (Opera of Avignon, Opéra de Massy), Arminda (Opera of Lille, Dijon Opera), Eurydice (Amphitheater Bastille), Brunnhilde - Siegfried and the ring Cursed (Amphitheater Bastille, Opera of St Etienne).


Marie-Adeline will sing the roles of Tosca and Micaela at the Opéra de Rennes, Tatiana (Eugène Oneéguine) at the Nice Opera, Donna Elvira at Versailles, Angiola (Proserpine de Saint-Saëns).
