Bertrand Chamayou is one of the artists who can not be ignored in the music scene. Endowed with a vast repertoire, involved in contemporary creation and oscillating from one style to another with disconcerting ease, he imposes today a striking assurance and imagination, as well as a remarkable coherence in his artistic purpose.
In the coming seasons he will perform at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Wigmore Hall, Vienna Konzerthaus, Tonhalle Zurich, Auditori Barcelona, Grands Interpreters de Toulouse, Prinzregententheater Munich The guest of many orchestras including the Paris Orchester, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cincinatti Symphony Orchestra, the Wroclaw Philharmonic and the FRench National Orchester.In 2014 Bertrand signed an exclusive contract with the Erato label. The first fruit of this collaboration is a Schubert record released in February 2014, followed in early 2016 by an integral Ravel that Bertrand Chamayou will perform on stage around the world.
His previous recordings for the Naïve label had been highly acclaimed, and in 2011 he was awarded a full gift of the Years of Pilgrimage, with numerous awards (Gramophone's Choice, Choc Classica, Diapason d'Or of the Year 2012 and Victory of Music Best recording of the Year).That same year Bertrand received a Victory of Classical Music as Instrumental Soloist of the Year. He had already received a Victory in the category "Revelation" in 2006, crowning a course already very promising.
Bertrand has been invited to perform on international stages such as Salle Pleyel, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Wigmore Hall, Lincoln Center in New York, Herkulessaal in Munich, Cologne Philharmonic, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam , The Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, the Auditori in Barcelona, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, as well as in festivals such as the Klavier Festival in the Ruhr, the Mostly Mozart Festival, the Gergiev Festival Rotterdam, the Lucerne Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festspiele, the Musikfest Bremen, Schwartzenberg's Schubertiade, the Schwetzingen Festival, the Piano Jacobins Festival in Toulouse, which has been very faithful since its beginnings and in its Chinese edition on several occasions, the Roque d'Anthéron Festival, the Chaise-Dieu Festival, the Besançon Festival, where it replaces Krystian Zimerman, The Festival of the Côte Saint-André, the Festival of Radio France and Montpellier which offers him a residence for its 2013 edition.
Bertrand Chamayou plays under the direction of Pierre Boulez, Andris Nelsons, Leonard Slatkin, Neville Marriner, Younak Sado, Semyon Bychkov, Philippe Herreweghe, Emmanuel Krivine, Michel Plasson, Stéphane Denève, Fabien Gabel, Ludovic Morlot, Jérémie Rohrer, Fayçal Karoui , Tugan Sokhiev, Lawrence Foster, Evelino Pido, Louis Langrée, Christian Arming, Paul Daniel and Joshua Weilerstein alongside several renowned orchestras such as the Orchester de Paris, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the WDR Sinfonie Orchester in Cologne, Kammer Philharmonie Bremen, the SWR Sinfonie Orchester in Stuttgart, the Orchester National de France, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.
Contemporary music occupies an important part of its activity and it worked with living legends of the creation like Henri Dutilleux or György Kurtag. He was invited as part of the "Présences" festival to give the concertos of Thomas Adès and Esa-Pekka Salonen. His work as a chamber musician is also essential, and he regularly performs with his friends Sol Gabetta, Renaud Capuçon, Daishin Kashimoto, Augustin Dumay, Antoine Tamestit, Gautier Capuçon, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Alexei Ogrintchouk, David Guerrier, Paul Meyer, Emmanuel Pahud, The quartets Ebène, Belcea, Ysaÿe ...
Native of Toulouse, Bertrand Chamayou was noticed at the age of 13 by the pianist Jean-François Heisser and subsequently attended the Paris Conservatory. At the same time, he worked diligently alongside the illustrious Maria Curcio in London, and received the enlightened advice of a large number of masters, including that of Murray Perahia.
Bertrand Chamayou also has ambitious accomplishments such as the 20-man cycle on the Enfant-Jésus for the centenary of the composer, or the 12 transcendent performance studies of Liszt, given many times in concert, Results a "live" acclaimed unanimously by the critic (Sony Classical). He signed in 2008 a recital Mendelssohn (Naïve) crowned with many awards. In the spring of 2010, Bertrand Chamayou presented a CD César Franck (Naïve) accompanied by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra conducted by Stéphane Denève.
