The Church will be open for all to discover from 10am until 10:30pm

This weekend, to celebrate the European World Heritage Days, the Monolithic Church of Saint-Emilion will be freely accessible and open for the public to discover. A religious building, dug out at the start of the 12th Centruy, the church is an impressive size : 38m long by 12m high. 
A treasure hunt will be given out to children at the entrance of the Church.

Through history Pierre, a young boy living in Saint-Emilion during medieval times, the guide will help you uncover the life of a child during the Middle Ages, the role of fortifications and stone masonery.

This guided walking tour will tell you more on the main development stages of the city, from its origins to our times as Saint-Emilion boasts a very long and rich history from a place pilgrimage to a powerful economic town.

 

2pm Comented walk through the vineyards (in French) RÉSERVER >
9€ / pers. (children under 5 go free) - duration 2h30

Grown-ups and children alike will be initiated to the secrets of the vines during this commented walk which will take place at the Château Cardinal Villemaurine, where a stonemason will share with you the history of stone masonery.

Deiscover how the village of Saint-Emilion was organized during the Middle Ages and the way of life of its inhabitants in an interactive and cultural way. Can we judge a book by its cover...the reasoning behind old Fench idioms. Of which religious circle is Saint-Honoré the Patron Saint ? Find out by following your tour guide !

A stroll through the medieval village where the children (and their parents) need to seperate the TRUTH from the LIES. Between theory and in practice, delve into the life of another era and get off the beaten track !

 

4:30pm Les Cordeliers : Visit - Tasting (in French) RÉSERVER >

The Cordeliers Cloister is filled with history and gives you the chance to discover the underground heritage of Saint-Emilion with its underground wine cellars that go 17m underground where the famous Crémant of Bordeaux is produced... a sparkling wine that you will be able to taste at the end of your visit.

22h45 - pyrotechnic and musical show "flight of the night ..." set-off from the King's Keep

Pyrotechnics, music and light come together in an original event in the heart of Saint-Emilion. "Envol de nuit ..." is a title based on the powerful and ephemeral traces that pyrotechnics will leave in the sky of Saint-Emilion and on the other hand on powerful beams of light that will caress the clouds and the architectures of the city.

Deliberately modern, the music program was designed to bring to the show its power and emotion. The general style will be in line with the theme of heritage days dedicated to youth this year.
